June
12, 2020. Only two ways can Covid-19 be defeated: a vaccine and eighty-percent
herd immunity.
American
has neither one. Herd immunity would already have prevailed, except for the
widespread government lockdowns.
Worldometer
now reports there have been 116,035 Covid-19 deaths. With the lockdowns
starting to lift and too few people immunized, deaths are now surging.
How
many Covid-19 deaths would have been caused if the U.S. government had done
nothing except provide good advice.
Hah!
Let’s
see: Epidemiologists John Ioannidis and Knut Wittkowski gave advice from the
beginning that seemed sensible to me, as follows:
Lockdowns
should have applied to everyone 65 and older - 14.9 percent of the population.
Those who are younger but not in good shape might have chosen to stay inside.
This
meant that some 80 percent of the people should have gotten out there and
mingled, up close and personal. No facemasks. No social distancing. No testing.
Children to school. Infection invited; kissing especially encouraged. Few would
have died. Most would be unaware they’d been infected.
In
about a month, the disease would have run out of potential candidates and died.
The immune could then have mingled with the older folks and immunize them as
well.
The
economy would have suffered a mere blip. No unusual misery, bankruptcy,
alcoholism, child abuse, deaths from delayed medical care, or suicide. Possibly
40,000 actual U.S. coronavirus deaths. No hundreds of thousands of deaths in
third-world countries because of a U.S. economic slowdown. No unconstitutional
abrogation of freedom. No unusual anger and rioting caused by the excessive use
of government force.
We
were just trying to save lives, say the officials.
Oh
sure, you imbecilic royal highnesses. What you’ve done is abominable!
