I suggested to Anne that, except for people 65 and older, widespread lockdowns should never have occurred. The children should have gone to school, and healthy people 65 and under should have gone to work. People should have mingled and invited infection, promoting immunity. Within a month or two, herd immunity would have prevailed. Having run out of potential candidates, Covid-19 would long since have died.
Anne
replied that the younger people would have infected the older ones, who would
have died in great numbers.
Not
if they weren’t in the same households. People 65 and older should have been
isolated, and so should those who were younger but unhealthy. Where necessary,
the government should have helped make the isolations possible. Any such funds
would have been tiny in comparison with the trillions of dollars government is
now paying to stave off bankruptcy because of having brought the economy to a
halt.
The
widespread lockdowns, squeezing the economy dry, are causing thousands of
deaths from suicide, alcoholism, depression, debts, and medical care too long
deferred. These were caused by state and federal governments. The widespread
lockdowns were criminal.
Prediction:
It seems unlikely at this point, but I
predict that Donald Trump will be reelected in November 2020.
